Dave Williams was a two-time All-SEC Second-Team performer in 1965-66 and 1966-67 playing for coach Joe Dan Gold. The Bulldogs earned an Associated Press Top 10 ranking during his junior season in 1966-67.
Williams became the second player at State to average a career double-double with 16.0 points and 10.2 rebounds per game which enabled him to join Bailey Howell at the time. He finished his career tied for fourth in points (1,219) and second in rebounds (772).
Williams was a team captain as a senior in 1967-68. He amassed double figures in 65 of 76 career games. His career-best was 33 points at Auburn on Jan. 3, 1966 as a sophomore.
Following State, Williams was selected in the 8th round of the 1968 NBA Draft by the Cincinnati Royals.
