C.B. "Buck" Cameron

C.B. "Buck" Cameron was a multi-sport star for the Bulldogs from 1920-24. While wearing the Maroon and White he played Basketball, Baseball, Football, and ran Track. As a member of the track and field team he was a member of the “Four C” relay team of Clark, Cato, Cochran and Cameron that never lost a relay. In 1921 while playing football he returned a punt 70-yards against Alabama to tie the game and in 1922 against Drake he caught an impressive nine passes.
Cameron, a Starkville native, was born in 1902 and lived in the state of Mississippi for his entire life. Following his time at Mississippi State he was a coach at Laurel High School (1924-45) where he coached his teams to six basketball state titles and 10 track and field state championship teams.
Cameron was inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. His son, Mack Cameron, later stared at Mississippi State and together they became the first father-son combo to be inducted into the MS Sports Hall of Fame when Mack was inducted in 1999.
