Former Lady Bulldog Nitra Perry returned to her alma mater in July 2006 after three seasons at Georgia Tech. At MSU, Perry is responsible for player development, practice preparation, assisting with recruitment and overseeing academics.
Prior to returning to MState, the Bolivar, Tenn.,-native worked primarily with administrative duties, but also assisted with all Georgia Tech women’s basketball camps.
A four-year letterwinner for the Lady Bulldogs from 1996-2000, Perry garnered numerous honors at Mississippi State, including being named Honorable Mention all-SEC by the Associated Press in 1999 and 2000 and earning SEC Academic Honor Roll and SEC all-Tournament team honors in 2000.
With 1,124 points during her career, she is one of only 14 Lady Bulldog players to reach the 1,000-point milestone. Her 746 career rebounds ranks fifth on the list, while she is eighth with 285 assists and sixth with 186 steals. She attempted 275 career three-point field goals and made 79 to rank seventh and 10th on those lists, respectively.
Perry played in 116 total games in her career (eighth) and started 96 of those contest (sixth). She also appeared in four postseason games for the Lady Bulldogs. Perry sits in 10th on the single season list and fourth on the senior single season list for rebounds with 255 during the 1999-2000 season.
Following her graduation in 2000 with a degree in education, Perry traveled overseas to play basketball for two years, competing in Portugal in 2001 and Italy in 2002. She returned stateside the following year and played for the Birmingham Power of the NWBL from 2003-04 before joining the coaching ranks.
