Thomas Callans was named Mississippi State’s Head Athletic Trainer in February 2018 and elevated to Senior Associate A.D. for sports medicine in July 2025. In his current role, he oversees the sports medicine and sports nutrition staffs and directs the healthcare of the football team. He first joined the sports medicine staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the football team in July 2014.
Prior to joining the staff at State, Callans spent his first four years as an athletic trainer at Samford in Birmingham, Alabama, where he eventually was promoted to Head Football Athletic Trainer in February 2013.
Callans earned his master of arts degree in exercise science from UAB in May 2012. He completed his bachelor of science degree in athletic training in 2010 at College of Charleston.
