Scott Shipman joined the Mississippi State strength and conditioning staff in January 2023, directly overseeing all aspects of strength and conditioning for the Bulldog baseball program. Shipman was promoted to Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports in January 2024.
Prior to joining Mississippi State, he served as the Director of Olympic Sports at Georgia Southern. During his time there he oversaw all 14 Olympic sports, working directly with baseball and women's soccer.
In January of 2018, Shipman joined Memphis strength and conditioning staff as the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. In that role, he was specifically assigned to baseball and men’s and women’s soccer, while assisting with the development of the strength and conditioning plans for all Olympic sports.
Prior to joining the Tigers' staff, Shipman worked with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and their minor league affiliates. He served in the role of Director of Strength and Conditioning with the Hillsboro Hops, the Diamondbacks' Short Season Low-A team.
Before working with the Diamondbacks organization, Shipman worked with TCU (2016), serving as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach with the baseball, tennis, track and field and football teams. He earlier served as an intern strength and conditioning coach at South Florida (2015). He spent a year with Stetson as a full-time strength and conditioning coordinator, handling programming for baseball, soccer, softball and football.
A native of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Shipman was a pitcher for the baseball team at Augusta from 2010-13. He graduated from Augusta with two degrees, first with a bachelor of science in exercise and sport science, and then with a master of science in kinesiology. He also served Augusta as a Graduate Assistant Coach working with baseball from 2013-15.
Shipman currently holds certifications with NSCA (CSCS) and USAW.
