Daniel McArthur joined the track and field staff in August 2025 as an assistant track & field coach, working with the throws events.
Prior to his time at State, McArthur served as a Sports Performance Specialist at Champions Sports Performance in Cornelius, North Carolina. During his time at Champions, McArthur developed athletes across various age ranges and sports, building an athletic foundation with everyone he worked with.
McArthur competed in the throws as a student-athlete at UNC-Chapel Hill. Representing the Tar Heels, he earned five All-American honors, was twice named the USTFCCCA Southeast Regional Indoor Athlete of the Year and the ACC Indoor shot put conference and overall record holder. He was also named a 12-time All-ACC athlete, Indoor ACC Field MVP, and holds the seventh highest mark all-time in the indoor shot put for the NCAA.
McArthur graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2021 with degrees in communications and exercise sports science. He still competes as a professional track and field athlete, most recently finishing seventh at the 2025 USATF National Championships in the men’s shot put.
