Joey Burton

Joey Burton enters his fifth season with the Lady Bulldog staff after starting in July 2007 as director of operations. His primary role is to oversee the team's budget, NCAA and SEC documentation, coordinate team travel, game tape exchange, equipment operations and supervise the managerial staff.
A 2007 graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Burton has served in various coaching and summer camp capacities since 2003. His previous post was as an assistant coach at St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Ill. While at SJHS, he worked individually with post and perimeter players and scouting reports for upcoming opponents. His previous coaching position was as an assistant at Proviso West High School in Hillside, Ill. Burton was the head sophomore and varsity assistant coach and developed scouting reports and organized individual player workouts.
Burton has worked several summer basketball camps - including serving as a camp supervisor at UCLA for four years, overseeing the 13-14 year old boys' division. He also worked at Illinois' Head Coach Bruce Weber's summer sessions as a coach, teaching offensive and defensive fundamental stations. Burton is also no stranger to MSU, having served as a summer camp intern for Sharon Fanning during the 2003 season.
Burton was a three-year starter and two-year captain of the Archers basketball team.
He and his wife, Alethea, were married in August 2007 and had their first child, Arianna, in Oct. 2009. Both Joey and Alethea are active members in FCA.
