Made five appearances in the circle with one start … pitching to a 4.20 ERA over 10.0 innings … made her debut in relief vs. Penn State (2/8), tossing 1.0 inning and striking out the final batter of the game … tossed 1.1 innings against Bradley (2/15) and did not allow a run … closed out the run-rule victory vs. Louisiana Tech (2/22) … threw 6.1 innings in her first career start at Northwestern State (3/1) to earn her first career win.Â

Considered the No. 18 prospect in the class by Extra Inning Softball and the No. 12 pitcher … tabbed a four-star prospect and the No. 13 pitcher in the class by Softball America … played at Hewitt-Trussville High School where her team won the 7A State Championship in three of her four seasons and was state runner-up in 2022 … four-time All-State Tournament Team selection and three-time First Team All-State selection … named to the All-South Metro Team four times … posted a 16-0 record in the circle as a freshman with a 1.93 ERA and 119 strikeouts over 87.0 innings … named Second Team All-State that year … went 18-1 with 200 strikeouts over 120.1 innings as a sophomore … allowed just eight earned runs for a 0.47 ERA and was named All-South Metro Pitcher of the Year … also earned her first Alabama Terrific 20 recognition and was the Trussville Tribune Player of the Year that spring after batting .337 with nine homers and 38 RBIs at the plate … went 22-1 with a 1.22 ERA as a junior on her way to being named All-South Metro Pitcher of the Year, MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year and being nominated for USA Today HSSA Softball Player of the Year … named a MaxPreps First Team High School All-American and selected to the 2023 North-South All-Star Team … struck out 209 batters that year while turning in a .319 batting average with 25 RBIs at the plate … went 5-1 at the state tournament as a pitcher while striking out 36 and walking just three … named the 2024 MaxPreps Preseason Top Player in the state of Alabama … named All-State Pitcher of the Year, State Tournament MVP, MaxPreps Best Player in Alabama, Birmingham News Softball Player of the Year and Birmingham News Prep Girls Athlete of the Year as a senior … threw 98.2 innings with a 1.35 ERA and .154 batting average against while striking out 175 and posting a 16-2 record … named to the AWSA Super All-State Team and AL.com's Birmingham Terrific 20 that year … also posted a .247 average at the plate with three home runs and 16 RBIs ... played travel ball for Georgia Athletics Gold, which finished in the top 20 at the 2023 PGF 18U Premier Nationals, and the Birmingham Thunderbolts, which placed third at the 2021 PGF 16U Premier Nationals … struck out 49 over 46.3 innings in her freshman summer… followed with 99 strikeouts as a sophomore … struck out 83 batters in 83.1 innings in 2023… was also a four-year letterwinner in basketball and volleyball… basketball team was the 2021 7A State Runner-Up and reached the quarterfinals in her sophomore and junior years.Â

Born Sara Phillips on December 20 in Danville, Indiana… daughter of Gary and Angela Phillips … father played baseball and basketball at Southern Union Community College … mother was a professional horse trainer and barrel racer … has two brothers, Michael and Jason, and three sisters, Mackenzie Jones, Michaela Jones and Jessica Phillips … Michaela played softball at Maryland … Michael played football at North Alabama … Mackenzie played softball and Depauw … uncles, Don Phillips and Richard Phillips, played basketball at Jacksonville State and Alabama, respectively … Richard also played baseball … majoring in food science, nutrition and health promotion.  Â
