Earned second team all-region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association ... Also a second team all-SEC selection in the outfield and an Academic all-SEC selection ... Also drew 19 walks, was hit by a pitch three times and was 23-for-25 on stolen base attempts ... Led the team with 11 game-winning runs, and also had three game-winning RBI ... Redshirted after undergoing surgery to repair torn meniscus in her left (non-throwing) shoulder on March 10 ... Hit 6-for-15 (.400) with a pair of RBI and five runs scored in four starts at the Bulldog Round-Robin, but missed each game of second day action with a shoulder injury ... Hit 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in State’s 9-0 victory over Louisiana Tech, then turned in a 3-for-4 showing with a trio of runs scored against the Lady Techsters 48 hours later ... Saw last action of season in leadoff at-bat against McNeese State at the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational.
AS A FRESHMAN (2004):
Named MSU’s Rookie of the Year and selected to the SEC Freshman All-SEC team after starting 64 games, with 36 coming at shortstop ... Posted a .228 batting average in 167 at-bats with 23 runs scored on 38 hits, including six extra-base hits and 14 RBI ... Tallied a .281 slugging percentage and a .276 on-base percentage ... Posted six multiple-hit games, three multiple-RBI games and three multiple-run outings ... Also drew nine walks, was hit by a pitch three times and was a perfect 14-for-14 on stolen base attempts ... Also recorded a pair of sacrifice flies and five sacrifice bunts ... Committed 19 errors in 182 total chances in the field for an .896 fielding percentage ... Started last 24 games in left field for Mississippi State after the Bulldogs shifted its defensive lineup prior to the series at Kentucky (3/27-28) ... A member of the Stratford Brakettes that won the 2005 ASA National Championship, earning second team all-America honors ... Prepped at East Central High School for coach Tracy Box ... A three-time all-district, all-area and all-state selection, Guess helped her East Central squad to three consecutive Class 4A state championships, collecting her team’s Gold Glove, Highest Batting Average and Most Stolen Bases award as a senior ... Also named a top 10 athlete and a United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete in her final prep campaign ... A two-sport athlete at East Central, Hayle also lettered in slow pitch softball for three years.
