Made his Olympic debut at the 1992 Barcelona Games with the United States' baseball team ... the Americans reached the medal round but lost the bronze medal game to Japan ... made one appearance in the tournament against Italy, striking out a then-Olympic record 14 batters in 8.0 shutout innings ... was the third overall pick of the 1992 MLB Draft, chosen by the Montreal Expos ahead of future Hall of Famer Derek Jeter ... highest-drafted pitcher in school history and second-highest drafted player overall ... advanced as high as Double-A ball before a shoulder surgery derailed and ultimately ended his pitching career ... set a then-single-season school record with 145 strikeouts in 1992, which still ranks inside the top five totals at State ... was a Second Team All-American that season ... named First Team All-SEC in 1991 ... finished his three-year Bulldog career with a 21-9 record and 271 strikeouts ... at the time his career ended, his strikeouts ranked second in MSU career history ... later was an assistant baseball coach at Gulf Shores High School, helping them to the Alabama Class 4A State Championship game in 2003.
