Men's Golf

Kyle Cornelius
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Kyle Cornelius was hired as the Bulldogs’ assistant men's golf coach in July 2024. He spent the previous season on staff at Charlotte.
Cornelius has helped lead State to NCAA Tournament appearances in his first two seasons and an NCAA Championship appearance in 2025-26, where the Bulldogs marked their best-ever finish in college golf's biggest stage. State has compiled three team tournament victories with Cornelius' assistance, as well as 10 top-five finishes. Cornelius helped guide Garrett Endicott (first), Dain Richie (fourth) and Ugo Malcor (sixth) to three of the top career scoring averages among State golfers.
A historic 2025-26 season went down as one of the best at State with two team titles, an SEC Quarterfinal showing and the program's best NCAA Regional score en route to an appearance in the NCAA Championships. The Bulldogs fired overall scores of 826 at both the SEC Championship and NCAA Winston-Salem Regional, which stand as the second-lowest 54-hole scores at Mississippi State. State took home a team victory at the Cullan Brown Collegiate and ended the regular season with a home triumph at the Mossy Oak Collegiate Championship, in which Dain Richie won the individual title. The Dawgs concluded their campaign with the program's best-ever finish in the NCAA Championships.
Garrett Endicott produced one of the Maroon and White's best-ever individual seasons, tying a program record with 25 rounds of par or better and putting together a scoring average of 70.63. His NCAA Winston-Salem Regional score of 14-under 199 marked the best-ever NCAA Regional score by a State golfer. He became the first Bulldog to earn All-America honors by both the GCAA and Golfweek, and he concluded his career with program records in par-or-better rounds (83) and scoring average (71.30).
The 2024-25 Dawgs put together a high level of consistency throughout the campaign with four top-five finishes and a victory at the Desert Mountain Collegiate. Garrett Endicott was named SEC Golfer of the Week for his runner-up finish at the event. Bulldog golfers compiled 36 rounds in the 60s and 87 rounds of par or better, both of which ranked third in program history.
In his lone season with the 49ers, Cornelius helped the program claim three top-five finishes as a team while recording 19 individual rounds in the 60s. His tenure saw Conor Gough play at the NCAA Regionals as an individual and Justin Matthews earn exemption into a PGA Tour event.
Prior to Charlotte, he spent one season at Troy, his alma mater, as a graduate assistant. While there, Cornelius worked with both the men’s and women’s teams. In 2023, the Trojan men reached the National Golf Invitational tournament after advancing to match play at the Sun Belt Championships for the first time since 2017. They also were represented by an individual at the NCAA Regionals while breaking or tying school records for the lowest 36-hole and lowest 54-hole team totals.
The Trojan women set program records for 18-hole, 36-hole and 54-hole totals and collected six top-10 team finishes.
Cornelius’ playing career ended in 2022. He posted a 74.81 stroke average in his final campaign with two top-10 finishes. He was also tabbed a GCAA All-America Scholar.
