Seth Tisdale heads into his fourth season as the associate athletic trainer for Mississippi State’s men’s basketball and men’s golf programs in 2021-22.
The Bulldogs have averaged 20.3 wins over his first three seasons, headed by a 2019 NCAA Tournament trip and a 2021 NIT Runner-Up finish.
Tisdale previously served as the assistant athletic trainer at St. Bonaventure in the same capacity from 2016-18. While at St. Bonaventure, he also helped facilitate many changes to the sports medicine department. The Bonnies posted 20-plus victories during back-to-back seasons, highlighted by a 26-8 mark in 2017-18 and a win over UCLA in the NCAA First Four.
Before St. Bonaventure, Tisdale gained experience as an assistant athletic trainer at Stetson in DeLand, Florida where he worked with the men’s basketball and the rowing programs during the 2015-16 athletic year.
Tisdale also spent time at Virginia Commonwealth in Richmond, Virginia as the athletic trainer for the women’s basketball and volleyball teams in 2014-15. He also aided with institutional drug testing and had the opportunity to assist VCU’s men’s basketball program which won the 2015 Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship.
Tisdale, a native of Northfield, Vermont, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from High Point in 2012 and a Master of Science degree in kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin in 2014.
Tisdale’s undergraduate career enabled him to work with the High Point men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse programs along with the Elon football team. His two-year stint at SFA was spent working with the football, softball, volleyball and women’s tennis programs. Tisdale also was a clinical preceptor for the graduate athletic training program and assisted with institutional drug testing.
In addition to being a certified athletic trainer, Tisdale is an instructor in First Aid/CPR/AED and Professional Rescuer courses with the American Red Cross. He also is a NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, certified in FMS level 1 screen, and is an authorized provider of the Graston Technique and an active member of both the NATA and CATS organizations.
Tisdale married Nicole Boyett, who works in Mississippi State’s business office, in April 2020.
