Alfred Aboya enters his second year as a graduate assistant after playing for Ben Howland at UCLA from 2006-2009.
The Yaounde, Cameroon, native earned a degree in political science and international relations and holds the distinction of having played the most games of any player at UCLA.
His duties at Mississippi State include assisting with on-court workouts, video scouting, academic monitoring and on-campus recruiting.
During his time at UCLA, he appeared in three Final Fours.
As a senior in 2009, the Bruins posted a 26-9 record as he averaged 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds as his team lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
His junior year in 2008, Aboya was one of four teammates to play in all 39 games. He made 17 starts, playing 15.2 minutes per game while averaging 2.9 points and 2.2 rebounds. The Bruins finished 35-4 and lost to Memphis in the Final Four.
As a sophomore, UCLA was 30-6 after losing to Florida in the semifinals, where he scored 5 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. On the year he averaged 4.1 points and 4.2 rebounds.
His first season in Los Angeles resulted in his first Final Four after he averaged 3.5 points and 2.4 rebounds. UCLA posted a 32-7 record after losing 73-57 to Florida in the championship game, where he totaled 2 points and 3 rebounds.
After his time at UCLA he went on to play oversees in France, Japan, Turkey and Venezuela. He then went on to play three seasons in the NBA D-League with Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Reno Bighorns and the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
