CAREER: Has played in 22 games for the Maroon and White, mostly as one of MSU’s most valuable special teams players the last two seasons . . . Saw action in all 13 games as a true sophomore after playing nine games in his first year on campus . . . Has tallied 27 tackles (14 solo) and a fumble recovery for his career.
2012: Saw action in all 13 games, recording 18 tackles (nine solo) and a fumble recovery . . . Registered two solo tackles in the lid-lifting victory against Jackson State . . . Picked up one more tackle in the win at Troy . . . Collected two solo tackles in both the victory vs. South Alabama and the SEC road win at Kentucky . . . Assisted in two tackles on the road at Alabama . . . Totaled two tackles at home against Texas A&M and a career-high three tackles the next week at LSU . . . Also notched his first career fumble recovery at LSU which led to a touchdown in the third quarter . . . Tied his career high with three tackles in the blowout win vs. Arkansas . . . Scout.com ranked him the No. 9 safety prospect in the country and the No. 3 overall prospect in the state . . . Rivals.com lists him as the No. 11 player in Mississippi and 23rd-best safety in the nation . . . Played for Coach Brian Oaks at Stone County . . . As a 2010 senior he was a consensus all-state performer and selected to the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game . . . Named to the Offense/Defense All-American Bowl after his senior season . . . The Mississippi Association of Coaches picked him as their Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year, as well as First-Team All-State . . . Credited with 121 tackles during his senior campaign, he also rushed for 1,121 yards and 15 touchdowns . . . Following the 2010 season he was a First-Team All-State selection of the Clarion-Ledger, which prior to the senior year also picked him to their ‘Dandy Dozen’ list of the state’s premier prospects . . .
