Former Mississippi State and All-SEC linebacker Jett Johnson returns to Starkville in 2026 as the programs new linebacker analyst following a two-year stint as the assistant linebackers coach at UConn in 2024-25.
Johnson began his coaching career at UConn in 2024, under the guidance of Mississippi State co-defensive coordinator Matt Brock, who Johnson played under during his time at Mississippi State.
A graduate of Mississippi State, Johnson was a standout linebacker for the Bulldogs, appearing in 45 career games with 31 starting assignments, totaling 336 career tackles with 8.0 sacks. He led the SEC in total tackles (115) in 2022 and finished second in the league in 2023 (130). He was an AP All-SEC second team choice in 2023 and a first team College Football Network All-SEC pick that same season. He was also twice named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
