Austin Stephan joined the Mississippi State Football Strength Staff in January 2019. He serves as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach under Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Cory Bichey.
Prior to joining the MSU staff, Stephan was on staff at the University of Cincinnati as an Assistant Strength Coach under Director of Football Sports Performance Brady Collins for the 2018 season. Stephan assisted the Bearcats as a Research Assistant in 2017 under Senior Associate AD/Medical Services Bob Mangine. In August 2019, Stephan earned his Master’s degree in Sports Administration from UC.
Stephan spent the 2016 season at Ohio State as a Football Sports Performance intern.
While an undergraduate at Baldwin Wallace University, he served a Football Strength & Conditioning internship at Mississippi State and was a rehab aide at the UPMC Center for Rehab Services in McMurray, Pennsylvania.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Pre-Physical Therapy from BW in 2016, while also minoring in Orthopedic Assessment & Treatment and Biology. He was the Valedictorian of his class and earned both the Milton T. Baldwin Prize, given to the graduate with the school’s highest academic achievement, and membership in the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society, recognizing the Top 100 students at Baldwin Wallace. He earned one letter and All-Academic OAC honors as a member of the Yellow Jackets football team and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma and Alpha Lambda honor societies.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native is a strength & conditioning coach certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
