Alex Watkins joined the Bulldogs as assistant strength and conditioning coach on January 24, 2020, after one season at UAB in 2019 as assistant strength and conditioning coach.
No stranger to the SEC, the Brownsville, Tennessee, native was a football student-athlete at Alabama from 2007-11, lettering during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He earned his bachelor’s degree in general health studies with concentrations in nutrition and kinesiology.

After graduating from Alabama, Watkins was signed by the Tennessee Titans in 2012 as an undrafted free agent. Following his time with the organization, he returned to Tuscaloosa to begin his coaching career with the Crimson Tide, where he was an intern strength and conditioning coach from 2013-14.

Prior to 2019 at UAB, Watkins spent three years (2016-18) at Texas Southern as head football strength and conditioning coach. Before that, he was head strength and conditioning coach for all sports at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa.
