Ferriss Trophy To Be Presented Tonight

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The 2007 Cellular South Ferriss Trophy, presented annually to the top collegiate baseball player in Mississippi, will be awarded tonight in Cleveland, Miss., in a ceremony to be televised live by Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
MSU junior catcher Edward Easley of Olive Branch, Miss., Mississippi junior shortstop Zack Cozart of Collierville, Tenn., and Belhaven College senior infielder Thomas Royals of Hattiesburg, Miss., are finalists for the award, named after former Mississippi State and Boston Red Sox pitching great and longtime Delta State head baseball coach Dave "Boo" Ferriss".
MSU shortstop Thomas Berkery, the 2006 SEC batting champion, won the trophy in 2006.
The telecast originating from DSU's Bologna Performing Arts Center will be hosted by former Mississippi State All-American pitcher and current Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Jeff Brantley.
