Lady Bulldog Track Signs Pass Christian's Shannon McGee

McGee, a distance specialist on the prep level recently turned in a personal-best time in the 1600-meter run at the Region 8 Regional meet. She finished with a time of five minutes, 35 seconds to place second in the event. McGee also competes in the 800-meter run and participates in the 4x400-meter relay team at Pass Christian High School on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In the 800-meter run, she clocked a time of 2:27 at the regional event to earn a bid to the 4A South State meet in the coming weeks.
She (Shannon) is a multi-sport athlete, so we think she is going to do really well on the team. Said MSU head coach Al Schmidt.
A multi-sport athlete at PCHS, McGee is the captain of the Pirate soccer team and the varsity cheerleader squad. On the track, she has been tutored by her father, Jim McGee. She also is a member of the U-Coach Running Club based in south Mississippi. The club offers training and competition at various meets in the region.
I'm very excited about coming to MSU, said McGee. They are great people up there and it gives me an opportunity to train with coach Schmidt.
McGee is heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program and the Interact Club, an organization that performs community service projects in the area. She is serving as the editor of the 2007 yearbook at PCHS.
