State Track Team Fares Well At Auburn Invitational

Senior Jennifer McPherson added a second competition to her 2007 NCAA Regional schedule, as she posted a time of four minutes, 28.39 seconds in the 800-meter run to qualify for the event in the post season. The foursome of Elliot Morant, John Bailey, Bruce Davis and Kendal May clocked an NCAA qualifying time of 40.23 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay at the AU-hosted event.
Senior Travis McKay registered the fourth-fastest time in the MSU history in the 1500-meter run at 3:45.25 to finish runner up in the event. The mark in the 1500-meter run gives McKay his second event at the regional event. He will compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase and the 1500-meter run.
?€˜It is a good trip when you can add to your NCAA qualifying list, said MSU head coach Al Schmidt. We had a lot of people set personal best times this weekend as well.
MSU's eighth-ranked 4x400-meter relay team claimed medalist honors on Saturday with a time of 3:07.29. Senior Arthur Davis improved his regional status with a time of 46.37 in the 400-meter dash. Lady Bulldog Marrissa Harris, who previously earned a qualifying mark, clocked a time of 13.74 in the 100-meter hurdles.
MSU will participate in the Penn Relays that will run from Thursday, April 26 thru Saturday, April 28 in Philadelphia, Pa.
