State Golfers Prepare For Palisades Golf Classic

The Palisades Golf Classic is new to the MState schedule for 2007 and is co-hosted by the Charlotte Sports Commission, Charlotte, Davidson and Belmont Abbey College. The opening round is scheduled to get underway Monday morning with the second round to follow in the afternoon.
MSU is coming off an eighth-place finish at the University of South Alabama Spring Classic in Mobile, Ala. Sophomores Noah Goldman and Carlos Sainz, Jr. led the Maroon and White in the event, finishing 21st in the field. Goldman, a Longwood, Fla.-native has led State in four of the ten events played this season. He also paces the team in scoring with a 73.54 average.
Playing in one of its largest tournament fields, State joins 17 other teams in the Queen City of Charlotte. Co-hosts-Belmont Abbey College, Charlotte, Davidson, Francis Marion, Lamar, Louisville, Memphis, Mercer, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Florida, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana, Tennessee-Chattanooga, Texas-Arlington and Xavier.
Following completion of the Palisades Golf Classic, the Bulldogs will turn their attention to the league-wide championship that will commence on April 20 in St. Simons Island, Ga. where the SEC Men's Golf Championships has taken place over the past six seasons.
