Lady Bulldog Netters Open Up SEC Play At South Carolina, Florida
The Lady Bulldogs come into the match riding a two-match win streak to end non-conference play. State is 4-3 after defeating Louisiana-Lafayette at home and UAB on the road both by 6-1 decisions.
South Carolina (6-2) holds a No. 38 ranking. The Gamecocks started out the season 5-0 before losing two matches to ACC foes North Carolina State and Clemson. USC rebounded on Wednesday, defeating No. 58 Marshall , 6-1.
Florida (9-0) comes into this weekend No. 3 in the nation and topped their in-state rival Florida State 4-3 on Wednesday. UF has bested six ranked teams in their eight-match homestand. The Gators will host Mississippi on Friday before playing the Lady Bulldogs.
"The start of March is what we all work towards," said MSU head coach Tracy Lane . "All the fall and early spring preparation is to get ready for conference play. We open with two really tough teams so it will give us a good look at what lies ahead."
Following this weekend's action, the Lady Bulldogs will be back in action at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre March 9 versus Auburn and March 11 against Alabama. The match against the Tigers is set for 2 p.m. CT and the match versus the Crimson Tide is set for 1 p.m. CT.
