Bulldogs Begin 2007 Spring Drills With Enthusiasm

The effort was good today, Croom said. We knew what we were doing, and I like the enthusiasm we had out there.
The head coach said points of emphasis during the first outing focused on a pair of areas that troubled the 2006 edition of Mississippi State football.
We worked a lot on jam coverage with our corners and safeties, and getting off of the line of scrimmage, Croom said. Today the defense won. We've got to do a better job of getting off the ball against the press. We saw that a bunch last year, in particular in the last two games.
Another focal point for MState on Monday was special teams.
Blake (McAdams) punted well today, Croom noted. We put in some new protection schemes and it was a good start.
The Bulldogs practice again on Tuesday afternoon before taking Wednesday off. State closes out the first week of practice with its final day in NCAA-mandated helmets only on Thursday before donning shoulder pads for the first time on Friday afternoon.
