Lady Bulldogs Head To Bluegrass State For SEC Indoor Track Championships

The Lady Bulldogs will begin their quest for school-first SEC Championship in indoor track at 3:30 CST on Friday with the women's pentathlon. All events will take place in the University of Kentucky's Nutter Field House. This year marks the fourth time UK has hosted the league-wide event since 1996. A year ago, in Gainesville, Fla., the Georgia Lady Bulldogs claimed the women's championship with 101.5 points. LSU has claimed a league-best ten SEC Championships on the women's side since the championships were initiated in 1984. MSU's best finish at the SEC Indoor event came during the 2003 edition of the championships, placing eighth.
State's last time in competition was at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. back on Feb. 9-10. A total of eight personal marks were set by Lady Bulldog competitors in the two-day event. MSU freshman Wendy Copeland registered a jump of 39 feet, three and three-quarters in the triple jump. The Tupelo, Miss.-products mark ranks third-best all-time in the MState women's indoor track laurels in that event. Sophomore Marrissa Harris edited a new personal-best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.67 seconds. Sophomore Nicole Rosetti registered a career-best time of 18:21.65 in the 5,000-meter run. Her time posted marks the second time this season that she has carded an individual best in the event.
