Four MSU Golfers Earn SEC Academic Honor Roll Accolades

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State placed four golfers on the 2006 Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll released recently by the league office. Senior Jared Jimenez and junior Jake Lambert earned the honor for the third consecutive academic year.
MState's other two members on the honor roll include junior Josh Oller and sophomore Logan Young. Oller makes the list in back-to-back seasons, while Young was named to the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll in 2005.
With the four members of the 2006 SEC Academic Honor Roll, MSU has placed 19 golfers on the list under head coach Clay Homan's guidance, which spans three seasons.
To be eligible for the honor roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letter-winner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 segment hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
Oller was tops on the team with a 3.70 GPA in general business administration, while Lambert posted a 3.68 GPA in general business administration. Jimenez finished his final academic campaign with a 3.15 in biological sciences. Young wrapped up his year with a 3.01 GPA tally.
As an institution, MSU placed 75 student-athletes on the conference-wide honor roll.
