MSU's Clay Homan In Second Place After Day One Of Mississippi Amateur
CHOCTAW, Miss. - Mississippi State head golf coach Clay Homan got off to a great start at the Mississippi State Amateur Championship at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club's Azalea Course on Thursday. Homan fired a 4-under par 68 and currently stands second in the field. Trey Denton has the clubhouse lead after the opening round, firing a 7-under par 65 to open the 72-hole event. Homan is the defending champion of the Mississippi Golf Association-sanctioned event.
State golfer Matt Fast posted an even-par round of 72 on opening day, while Josh Oller registered a 77. Fast leads a group of seven competitors that are tied for 11th in the standings.
Homan will begin second-round competition at 9 a.m. Friday morning.
