McPherson Chosen As At-Large Selection For NCAA Championships
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State junior Jen McPherson (Nampa,Idaho) has been chosen as an at-large selection for the women's1500-meter run at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championshipsin Sacramento, Calif.
The top five competitors in each individual event automaticallyqualified for nationals. McPherson finished eighth in the event at theMideast Regional. However, her time of 4:22.26, posted at the AuburnInvitational, was good enough for McPherson to be extended aninvitation to join the 28-person field. Her time is the 21st best amongentrants in the event.
Preliminaries for McPherson and MSU's other national qualifiers --sophomore all-American Chris Woods (men's 800-meter run) and the men's4x400-meter relay are scheduled for Thurs., June 8 with finals for allthree events set for Sat., June 10.
