Mathis Earns ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA District Academic Honor
The Picayune, Miss., native holds a 3.89 cumulative GPA as a communicationmajor. Mathis was one of MSU's Newsome Award winners as the top women's golfstudent-athlete this season. Mathis was a member of the 2005 SEC Academic HonorRoll and the 2004 Freshman SEC Academic Honor Roll. She was also named to theprestigious NGCA All-American Scholar Team last season.
Mathis led the team in nine of 10 tournaments this season. She registered fivetop-five finishes, six top-10 finished and finished in the top10 nine timesthis season. She was named to the all-SEC second team for the secondconsecutive year this season. Mathis set a school record for the lowest strokeaverage in a season, finishing the season with a 74.20 average. Mathis wasranked as high as 44th nationally this past season with her best finish comingat the Wildcat Invitational where she finished second.
