Lady Bulldog Golf Squad Earns Second Consecutive NCAA Regional Berth

"We set our goals high at the beginning of the year and making it toregionals is the only avenue to nationals," said MSU head coach ChristiSanders. "It is gratifying to step that much closer to the finals after allthe hard work this season. The team has fought all season long and I couldnot be more proud for our players, especially my seniors Ashleigh (Korzack)and Stephanie (Godare).
State joins 10 other Southeastern Conference teams in NCAA Regional play,including six SEC schools in the East Regional. Auburn, the defending SECChampions, is the #2 seed followed by Tennessee who is the #3 seed.Vaderbilt is the #6 seed, followed by eighth-seed South Carolina,ninth-seeded LSU and 11th-seeded Alabama. Other participating schools in theEast Regional include: top-seed Arizona State, host Wake Forest, California,Virginia, Florida State, North Carolina State, Augusta State, Maryland,Furman, North Carolina, Campbell, College of Charleston, East Carolina andYale.
MSU is led by junior Amanda Mathis who has been State's top finisher inevery event this season. The Picayune, Miss. native was recently named tothe all-SEC second team for the second consecutive year.
The top eight teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championshipfinals, held May 23-26 at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, hosted byOhio State University.
