Bulldog Netmen Fall To #1 Georgia 4-0

MSU (4-11, 1-8) battled Geogia to tiebreakers on two courts and splitsets in two other matches before UGA could clinch the match. The firstcompleted was at the #1 spot where second-ranked John Isner of Georgiadowned State's 81st-ranked Ivan Bjelica 6-2, 6-2. Bjelica played at the #1position, taking the place of MSU sophomore Pierre Mouillon who did not playdue to an illness. Georgia took a 2-0 lead when Colin Purcell defeated MSUfreshman Ryan Farlow 7-5, 6-3 on the #5 court. UGA inched closer to thevictory, gaining their third point at the #3 position where Antonio Ruizknocked off MSU's Florent Girod 7-6(7), 6-3. The clinching point came oncourt #6 where Georgia's 50th-ranked Strahinja Bobusic downed MSU freshmanEric Lim 6-2, 7-6(4). The two remaining matches were suspended when thematch was clinched. On court #2, Georgia's 23rd-ranked Luis Flores led MSU'sJose-Carlos Pinto 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 while 61st-ranked Matic Omerzel led State'sPhilippe Frayssinoux 4-6, 6-4, 2-1 on court #4 when play was suspended.
Georgia moved to 20-0 overall and 9-0 in SEC play with the win. Georgianow has a 15-1 record against MSU in matches played in Starkville. Stateconcludes their 2006 home slate Sunday, hosting Tennessee at the A.J. PittsTennis Centre at 1 p.m.
