State Women Fall 6-1 To No. 55 Arkansas
The loss snapped MSU's five-match winning streak, which dates back to the 2000 season, versus the Lady Razorbacks.
The Lady Bulldogs fell at the No. 4 with both Daniela Juskova retiring in the second set. Elna de Villiers won her match at No. 6 when UA's Melissa Cornett retired in the second set of the match match. Juskova dropped the opener 7-6(4) to Lady Razorback Karina Ledaja.
Aurelija Miseviciute topped MState's Anastasia Kugakolova 6-1, 6-1 along with UA's Ela Kaluder defeating MSU's Renee Joseph 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 position. Joseph moved in to the second spot after playing at No. 3 in her last five matches. UA's Vlatka Jovanovic won in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 over State's Martina Banikova.
The Lady Razorbacks opened the scoring with the doubles point, notching wins at court one and three. The Maroon and White's pairing of Banikova and de Villiers defeated UA's duo of Audrey Bordeleau and Miseviciute 8-4.
State returns home on Sunday, April 2 at 1 p.m. to face the Tigers of LSU at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. The Purple and Gold faced Mississippi on Friday in Oxford.
