Five State Hoopsters Named To 2005-06 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll

A fifth-year senior center for coach Rick Stansbury's Bulldogs, Morganled the way for MSU by collecting SEC Academic Honor Roll recognition forthe fourth consecutive year. A native of Gallatin, Tenn., Morgan completedhis sports communication degree last summer while compiling a 3.21cumulative grade point average.
Also on the men's side, Boler, a senior swingman, received honor rollstatus for the third straight season, while juniors Stelmach and Begley wereboth named to the league's academic listing for the second year in a row. AGreenwood native, Boler has put together a 3.54 cumulative GPA and willgraduate this spring with a degree in biological sciences.
A forward hailing from Poland, Stelmach has accumulated a 3.39 gradepoint average while pursuing a degree in physical education/clinicalexercise physiology. A walk-on guard from Henderson, Ky., Begley hascompiled a 3.46 cumulative GPA in management and is on target to completehis undergraduate degree this coming fall. Stelmach and Begley were bothprevious members of the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll in 2003-04.
For coach Sharon Fanning's Lady Bulldogs, Reeder, a sophomoreguard/forward, is a first-time member of the SEC Winter Academic Honor Rollafter earning a spot on the league's Freshman Academic Honor Roll in2004-05. A physical education major with a concentration in fitnessmanagement, the Pontotoc, Miss., native has maintained a cumulative 3.19GPA.
With this year's four SEC Academic Honor Roll recipients, the Bulldogsrank third in the league both this season and with 25 total honorees in theeight seasons since Stansbury took over State's head coaching duties in1998. Including five recipients apiece this season, Florida and LSU alsojointly lead the way with 26 total honor roll recipients dating back to the1998-99 campaign. The Bulldogs' 18 total academic honorees over the pastfour seasons lead the conference in men's basketball ahead of both Georgiaand LSU with 14 total selections apiece.
Encompassing the winter sports of basketball, gymnastics, swimming &diving, rifle and bowling, a total of 330 student-athletes were named to the2005-06 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll, which is based on grades from the2005 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
