No. 12 Vanderbilt Blanks Mississippi State 7-0 In Womenb(TM)s Tennis

STARKVILLE, Miss. ?€“ Mississippi State dropped its third consecutive Southeastern Conference women's tennis match with a 7-0 setback to 12th-ranked Vanderbilt on Sunday at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
With the win, the Commodores lead the all-time series with the Lady Bulldogs 19-7 and have taken every match against MSU since the 1991 season. State (3-10, 1-5) will look to get back on the winning track next weekend with matches at Arkansas and a home date with LSU.
Vanderbilt swept the doubles point to take the early lead in the match and continued its impressive play in to singles matches. VU's Amanda Fish, ranked 20th in the nation, eased past MSU's Anastasia Kugakolova 6-1, 6-1. No. 40 Taka Bertrand defeated State's Martina Banikova 6-1, 6-3. At court three, MState's Renee Joseph pushed Commodore Amanda Taylor, ranked 75th, to a three set-match. Joseph opened the match winning 6-3, but Taylor bounced back to win the second in a tie-breaker, 7-6(5) to force the super tie-breaker in the third set. She outlasted Joseph 13-11 to conclude the match. The Black and Gold clinched their 15th win, sixth in the conference at the No. 6 with Maggie Yahner topping Elna de Villiers of MSU 6-2, 6-1.
The Maroon and White will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. on Friday, March 31 to meet the 68th-ranked Lady Razorbacks at 3 p.m. The squad returns home to face 48th-ranked LSU on Sunday, April 2. The MSU-LSU match is slated for 1 p.m. at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on the MSU campus.
