Offense Shows Improvement In Cool Weather Workout

STARKVILLE, Miss. ?€“ Mississippi State's offense had its best showing of the spring football practice period, as the Bulldogs worked for two and a half hours in chilly temperatures on Thursday afternoon. The sixth spring session ?€“ only the second in full pads ?€“ marked the first time Head Coach Sylvester Croom praised his offensive troops.
"We were better (on offense) today," Croom said following practice. "We threw the ball better today, but we're still dropping too many. (Quarterback Michael) Henig had his second straight good day."
The head coach's positive outlook on the session didn't stop on the offensive side of the ball.
"Our defense is getting better everyday, especially the linebackers," Croom said. "Gabe (O'Neal), Quinton (Culberson) and (Jamar) Chaney have done a really good job. We are simply not missing tackles"
MSU will continue its 2006 spring practice period with a practice on Friday before scrimmaging for the first time Saturday.
"Overall, I like the way we're working," Croom said. "This was the first time the offense answered the bell."
