Lady Bulldogs Finish Eighth At Papa Johns Collegiate

MIAMI, Fla. - The Mississippi State women's golf team concluded play at the Papa Johns Collegiate Tuesday, finishing in eighth place. The Lady Bulldogs shot a 308 in the final round and finished with a three-round score of 920.
Pacing State for the sixth-straight tournament was all-Southeastern Conference junior Amanda Mathis. Mathis finished in a tie for fifth place with a three-round score of 223. The top-10 finish for Mathis was her fifth straight this season. MSU senior Stephanie Godare finished in a tie for 16th after pacing State with a 75 in the final round. Ashleigh Korzack finished in a tie for 41st with a 235. Sophomore Julia Huh finished one stroke back of Korzack and finished in a tie for 43rd. Freshman Leigh Phillips concluded her first collegiate tournament shooting a 251.
North Carolina State won the team competition, shooting an 892 and edged out East Carolina for the victory. South Florida¹s Christina Jones shot a 71 in the final round and held on to her lead for the third straight day, winning individual honors with a score of 214.
MSU's next action will be on March 3-5 when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Baton Rouge, La. to compete in the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic.
