Lady Bulldog Netters Host UAB Thursday To Begin Five-Match Homestand

MSU head coach Tracy Lane and her squad will look for its first match in the win column after dropping the first four matches of the season. Last weekend, State dropped decisions to No. 55 Rice and No. 65 SMU on the road.
The meeting with UAB is the 22nd between the two schools in women's tennis activity. The Lady Bulldogs hold a decisive 18-3 advantage in the series. Last season State blanked the Blazers 7-0 at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
The match with UAB begins a five-match homestand for the Lady Bulldogs. On Saturday, Feb. 18, MSU will welcome Big 12 foe No. 61 Texas Tech to the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre for a 1 p.m. contest. The following week's action pits the Lady Bulldogs against the Jaguars of South Alabama on Feb. 24, beginning at 3 p.m.
State will open Southeastern Conference activity on Friday, March 3, hosting the 26th -ranked South Carolina Gamecocks at 3 p.m. The homestand will conclude with the second-ranked Florida Gators, visiting on Sunday, March 5 with the match starting at 1 p.m.
UAB returns seven letterwinners from last season's squad that finished 14-7 overall and finished sixth in the Conference USA standings. The Forest Green and Gold enter today's tilt with MState sporting a 3-0 mark on the 2006 season with victories over Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech. In their previous outing on Friday, Feb. 10, they topped Tennessee-Chattanooga 6-1.
