Macdonald Named Director Of Coaching For MYSA

Macdonald, who will enter his third year as MSU's skipper next season, will be charged with developing and implementing policies and procedures for the MYSA Olympic Development Program. He will also select and train ODP coaches and administrators for all age groups with advice and consent of the Executive Council.
MYSA is happy to have Neil become part of its Olympic Development Program, Clements said. Neil has a vision for what premier soccer in Mississippi should look like and we share that vision. Coach McDonald has a strong belief in player development and that is one of MYSA's core values.
Having already logged significant experience with the program already as a member of the coaching staff, Macdonald's familiarity with Mississippi ODP will likely exhibit a smooth transition to an administrative role with the association.
In addition to his aforementioned duties, the MState head coach will also develop player development programs for the recreational player, be highly visible within the recreational community and schedule all courses and prepare a calendar while serving as coordinator for all state coaching education courses.
In just his first year at the helm of the Mississippi State soccer program in 2003, Macdonald led the Maroon and White to its best record in three seasons, while also tying a school record with five conference victories en route to a second place finish in the SEC West, as well as a fifth place finish overall. His career coaching record currently stands at 162-54-12 (.737), including prior experience as head coach of both the men's and women's programs at Iowa Central Community College.
A four-year starter at Augusta (GA) State University from 1995-98, he currently holds his ?€˜C' coaching license from the Union of European Football Association.
