Bulldog Golfers Surge Into Seventh On Final Day Of UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate
ORLANDO, Fla. - Mississippi State's men's golf team fired rounds of 294 and 290 on Tuesday to close out the UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate in seventh place. The Bulldog golfers began the day in 17th-place after the first round. The final round 290 was the second-lowest round recorded in the final 18 holes.
The day began with the completion of the second round that was suspended due to darkness. The final day in Orlando, Fla. began the same way Monday started ?€“ with a delay due to frost on the course.
Junior Josh Oller and freshman Brian Mason each turned in even-par performances to conclude the second round. Junior Jake Lambert fired a two-over par 74 to pace the State line up Tuesday morning.
Oller closed out the final round with another even-par scorecard to finish a season-best 13th in the field. Freshman Noah Goldman fired MSU's low-round of the day, shooting a one-under par 71. The Longwood, Fla. product finished 32nd in the spring opener. Lambert added a 73 to round out the MState scorecard.
Lamar University took home team honors with rounds of 296-293-288. The Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi finished runner up, followed by Texas-Arlington, Louisville and UCF. On the individual side, LU's Casey Clendenon claimed medalist honors with a final round 69.
The Maroon and White returns to competition on March 5-7 with a return trip to the state of Florida. They will take part in the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla.
