"Take A Kid To The Game" For Sunday Matchup Lady Bulldogs Vs. Alabama

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs (6-17, 1-9 SEC)continue their search for their second conference win hosting Alabama (8-15,2-8 SEC) on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. in Humphrey Coliseum. In an effort toget children involved in sports, MSU will participate in "Take A Kid To TheGame", where any child (18 and under) who is accompanied by a paying adult,will get into the game free this Sunday. Adults may bring any number ofyouths with them.
State dropped its eighth straight decision to Florida Thursday night, 63-48.MSU was led by a double-double from freshman Robin Porter who had 12 pointsand 10 rebounds to mark the third of her career and second straight.Sophomore guard Miayorka Johnson tallied the first double-double of hercareer with 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
MSU has boasted two players recording double-doubles in three games thisseason. In addition to the performance vs. Florida, senior Mamie McKinneytotaled 13 points and 10 rebounds for her fifth career double-double andsenior Doceide Warren posted the first one in her career with 11 points and10 rebounds at Ole Miss on Jan. 8. Versus Southern Miss on Nov. 29, Portertallied 11 points and 10 rebounds and junior Natasha Henderson had 12 pointsand 11 rebounds.
Alabama leads the series vs. MSU, 32-8, and is 15-4 in Starkville. Statehas won four out of the last five meetings, including the last three gamesplayed in Starkville. The Crimson Tide took the last meeting, 72-61, onJan. 30, 2005 in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama is suffering a seven-game conference losing streak, four of those onthe road. Junior guard/forward Navonda Moore is leading UA with 11.4 pointsper game, followed by junior forward Lauren Hill with 10.2 ppg and 6-4senior center Dee Merriweather is the leading rebounder with 8.1 reboundsper game. The Crimson Tide is without second leading scorer Marverly Nettleson the roster. Alabama went 6-7 in non-conference competition including awin over Southeastern Louisiana and a loss to UAB, both shared opponentswith State.
The Lady Bulldogs do not have a mid-week game so State will not resumeaction until the following Sunday, Feb. 19 in its final home game of theseason vs. Kentucky at 2 p.m. There will be a pre-game ceremony honoringthe four Lady Bulldog seniors.
