MSU-South Carolina To Open Football Season

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State Director of Athletics Larry Templetonannounced Friday that the Bulldog football team would open its 2006 scheduleThursday, Aug. 31, against Southeastern Conference opponent South Carolina.The game, which will be played at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field, will betelevised nationally by ESPN as part of the network's Thursday nightpackage.

In conjunction with that schedule announcement, Mississippi State will playat UAB at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., on Saturday, Sept. 23.
While those two game dates are now set, the remainder of the MSU footballschedule remains tentative.
