High Jumper Denton Named To ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District Squad
In his final season for the Maroon and White, Denton posted two regionalqualifying marks in the high jump. His personal best came at the Jace LacosteInvitational where he cleared 7-0 1/2 to win the meet title. At theSoutheastern Conference Championships, he leaped 6-10 3/4 to finish fourth.
Denton won the FSU Snowbird (6-8 3/4) and Bulldog Invitational (6-8) titles thisseason. He also finished second at the LSU Alumni Gold meet with a mark of 6-9.At the Alabama Relays, he topped 6-6 3/4 to finish fourth. Denton posted 6-83/4 at the Texas Relays (T15th) and Penn Relays (tied for seventh).
Denton has been a four year selection to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, named tothe Bulldog Honor Roll for eight semesters and the President's and/or Dean'sList every term at MSU. In 2003, he was named to the National CollegiateDivision I Track Coaches Association all-Academic Team. He is scheduled tograduate in December 2005 with his degree in business information systems.
As a district honoree, Denton will be nominated for ESPN the Magazine's 2005Academic all-America Track and Field University Division team, which will bereleased later this summer.
