Lady Bulldog Golfer Amanda Mathis Named To All-SEC Second Team

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State sophomore women's golfer Amanda Mathiswas named to the all-SEC team announced by the league office on Wednesday.Mathis, a native of Picayune, Miss., was the first Lady Bulldog golfer to benamed an All-SEC player since Sofie Andersson was tabbed to the secondteam in 2003.

Mathis, in her second season with State, is currently 15th in the league instroke average with a 75.46. In the second round of the 2005 LSU/ClevelandGolf Invitational, she shot a career best five-under (67) which is tied forthe second best round by an SEC player this year.

Mathis currently leads the Lady Bulldog golfers this season in strokeaverage (75.46), top-10 finishes(5), stroke differential(11.22), and won theindividual title at the Wildcat Invitational last fall. The Bulldogs alsocaptured the team title in that event. Mathis also paces the Lady Bulldogsquad with four rounds of par and one round under par this season.

She will lead the Lady Bulldogs into next week's NCAA East Regional ranked88th nationally by Golfweek.
