Brandon's Zabaldano Inks With MSU Track & Field
Zabaldano will work closely with assistant coach Karen Rademeyer, who overseesthrows.
"We are excited about the physical attributes Daniel brings to the throws,"Rademeyer said. "Along with his enthusiasm, willingness to train hard andcompete, he will be successful."
The 6-7 thrower is currently the Mississippi Private School Association's (MPSA)overall state champion in the discus, a title he won in 2004 and will attemptto defend on Saturday, April 30. Just this past Saturday, April 23, Zabaldanowon the MPSA North State title with a personal best throw of 165-07, a MPSANorth State record.
In addition to being a standout on the field, Zabaldano was also a standout onthe court for the Flames. As a basketball player, he was named the team's MostValuable Player, an all-Conference selection and participated in the MPSAall-Star game, where he was named MVP.
"I hope I exercise the opportunity I've been given," Zabaldano said. "I'm prettynervous about competing in the SEC. I think Coach Rademeyer is going to help methrow farther."
The Eagle Scout is also a member of the honor society at UCS. A native ofBrandon, Miss., Zabaldano is the son of Paul Zabaldano and intends to major inmechanical engineering at MSU.
