MSU Golf Lands Brian Mason For The 2005-2006 Season
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State men's golf coach Clay Homan announced Thursday that Brian Mason of Dallas, Texas has signed a national letter-of-intent to play with the Bulldogs.
Mason's golf credentials include winning the North Texas PGA 18 Invitational in his home state. He placed 19th with back-to-back rounds of 74 in the 2004 TaylorMade-Adidas Golf Junior at the par 72 Woodlands Course in Woodlands, Texas. He has lettered four seasons at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, Texas, along with being team captain of the LHHS golf team. Mason is a two-time all-District team member and a 2004 all-City honoree. The soon-to-be Bulldog was named team MVP during his junior campaign and recently was given the same honor for his senior season.
"We are excited about Brian (Mason) joining our team next year," said MSU head coach Clay Homan. "He brings tremendous amount of leadership to the team."
An excellent student in the classroom as well, Mason is a member of the National Honors Society along with being a representative on the school's Student Council.
"I am really excited about coming to MSU and playing in the Southeastern Conference," said Brian Mason. "I just loved the college-town atmosphere when I visited."
Born Dec. 22, 1986, he is the son of Wayne and Donna Mason. He plans on majoring in business next fall.
Mason joins Matt Fast and Noah Goldman in the 2005-2006 signing class. This past February Golfweek tabbed State's incoming class among the top-10 in the nation.
