Lady Bulldogs Finish 11th At The SEC Championship
Beth Irwin was the highlight of the day for the Lady Bulldogs, carding aneven-par 72 in the final round. The round by Irwin was the seventh best onthe day and brought her up on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 38th.Julia Huh shot a 77 on Sunday and was the top finisher for State. She endedthe tournament in 37th place with a 235. Sophomore Amanda Mathis matched hersecond round score of 78 on day three and ended the tournament in a tie for44th.
Stephanie Godare had her best round of the tournament Sunday, shooting a 78and finishing with a 244. Aberystwyth, Wales native Janet Dyer shot a 79 andended with a 243 to close out her showing in the 2005 SEC Championship.
Auburn and Georgia were tied after 54 holes of play, but Auburn won the teamchampionship on the second hole of a playoff. Stacy Lewis of Arkansas shot a5-under 67 on Sunday to finish the tournament at 2-under par and take homethe individual title.
Mississippi State, ranked 30th by golfweek, will now await the announcementof the 2005 NCAA Championship field on April 25 to determine theirpostseason fate.
