Bulldogs Finish 10th At The SEC Men's Golf Championship
MSU was led by sophomore Josh Oller's round of 76. The Brandon, Miss. product finished tied for 25th with teammate Joe Deraney, who closed out the 54-hole event with a final-round 79. Freshman Michael Knight registered a 77 and posted a 37th-place finish. Knight closed out his round with two birdies in the final four holes. He led State in the birdie department with three. Senior Tim Satow closed out his Bulldog career with a 78, placing 47th in the field. The Durbin, South Africa native recorded back-to-back birdies on No. 7 and No. 8. Sophomore Jake Lambert posted a score of 79 to close out the MSU scorecard.
Kentucky picked up its first SEC Golf Championship with a final round 283 beating out Auburn by two strokes. The Wildcats moved from third to first on closing day. The Bulldogs of Georgia placed third, while Florida and Tennessee rounded out the top-five teams.
Tennessee's David Skinns won the individual championship with a final round two-under par 68 to post an even-par score for the tournament. He edged out UGA's Scott Richard by a stroke.
The Bulldogs finish the season placing in the top-10 in nine of the 11 tournaments in 2004-05. State captured its first team title since 1999 this season at the Homewood Suites Invitational in Mobile, Ala. Senior Joe Deraney took home medalists honors at the event as well.
