Bulldog Foursome Earns Spring Football Awards
Sophomore defensive lineman Avery Hannibal (LaGrange, Ga.) was named theteam's Most Improved Defensive Player. He culminated a solid springpractice by making a pair of tackles for the White team in the final springscrimmage, including one quarterback sack (minus 2 yards).
Sophomore tight end Jason Husband (Jackson, Miss.) and junior split end WillProsser (Starkville, Miss.) shared the team's Most Improved OffensivePlayer. Husband made a successful switch from wide receiver and moved tothe top of the depth chart at his new position. Prosser maintained his roleat the top of the depth chart at one wide out spot during spring, and madetwo catches for 81 yards in the final scrimmage, televised nationally byESPN2.
Senior center Chris McNeil (Petal, Miss.) was given the Bulldog Award for2005, an award presented annually to the State player who displayed thegreatest work ethic, leadership ability, and character during the four-weeksession.
Ronald Fields (defense), Omarr Conner (offense), and David Stewart (BulldogAward) earned the spring honors a year ago.
