'Tan White Day' Set For April 15th In Tupelo
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Senior all-American Tan White will be honored for her acclaimed career at Mississippi State University by her hometown of Tupelo, Miss. and Tupelo High School. The festivities will be on Friday, April 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the Tupelo High School gymnasium. The ceremony will be open to the public on a first come, first serve basis.
Tupelo mayor Larry Otis will present White, a Kodak All-American, with a proclamation of "Tan White Day". The proclamation will recognize White's achievements on the court, in the classroom and her many contributions to the community. University administrators and athletic department officials will also be in attendance.
"Tupelo is extremely proud of Tan White and the accomplishments that she has made at MSU," said Tupelo mayor Larry Otis. "We feel it very fitting that we honor her with an official 'Tan White Day' in the city and at the high school. We are proud of her ability to continue her education and have the opportunity to play professional basketball in the future and balance that with a career."
