Satow And Knight Lead State At Billy Hitchcock

AUBURN, Ala. ?€“ Senior Tim Satow and freshman Michael Knight led the Mississippi State men's golf squad on the final day of the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate in Auburn, Ala. on Sunday at the par-72 Auburn University Club. Both Satow and Knight finished the tournament in 29th-place.
As a team the Bulldogs struggled to shoot a final-round 316 and fell three spots from ninth to 12th in the 12-team field. Knight, the Calgary, Alberta, Canada native turned in the low-round of the day for State, carding his second consecutive three-over par 75. Satow finished up the 54-hole event with a 79 on Sunday. During the three-day tournament, the Durbin, South Africa product recorded 37 pars. Sophomore Josh Oller registered an 80, while senior Joe Deraney finished State's scoring with an 82 to finish tied for 39th.
Greg Huxman, competing as an individual finished the tournament tied for 52nd.
Auburn captured the team title for the second consecutive year. The Tigers posted a final-round nine-over par 279. Memphis took home the runner up spot, while Charlotte finished in third. Mississippi and UAB rounded out the top five squads.
Ian Rochester of Memphis led from start to finish to win the individual title. He held off AU's Lee Williams by one stroke. Williams carded the low-round of the day with a 68.
The Maroon and White will close out the season next weekend, April 15-17 at the Southeastern Conference Championship in St. Simon's Island, Ga.
