#22 Lady Bulldogs Fall 6-1 At #7 Florida
Florida got on the board early in the match by grabbing the doubles point,as the Lady Bulldogs dropped all three doubles matches. Florida's combo ofBoglarka Berecz and Nina Suvak jump-started things with an 8-3 win over LadyBulldog sisters Hayley and Tarryn Rudman at the No. 3 position. Clinchingthe point were 12th-ranked Lady Gators Jennifer Magley and Zerene Reyes, whodowned State's 13th-ranked combo of Zsuzsanna Fodor and Anastasia Kugakolova8-2 at No. 2.
The Lady Gators took a 2-0 edge when Florida's 12th-ranked Reyes defeatedMSU's 93rd-ranked Anastasia Kugakolova 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 position topick up the first singles point of the afternoon. Florida extended its leadto 3-0 after the 109th-ranked Suvak downed State's Renee Joseph 6-2, 6-1 atthe No.4 position. UF clinched the match when the 56th-ranked Berecz bestedPolina Kokoulina at the No. 6 spot 6-0, 6-3.
At the No. 4 position, MSU's Magdi Rekasi dropped a 6-1, 6-1 match toFlorida's Alex Liles.
The Bulldogs picked up their only point of the afternoon at the No. 3position when Tarryn Rudman knocked off UF's Whitney Benik 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.The final singles match of the day went to Florida's sixth-ranked Magley asshe defeated State's 18th-ranked Fodor, 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (7). Fodor's losssnapped her string of six consecutive singles matches won.
"We were totally outplayed today," head coach Tracy Lane said. "We came outflat in doubles and they gained a lot of momentum and just kept it going.They didn't give up a lot of opportunities."
MSU returns to the court on Sunday to take on 25th-ranked South Carolina at1 p.m. ET at Carolina's Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center.
